Frequently Asked Questions

Is it expensive to hire a designer?

I offer a variety of services that can fit your budget. My goal is to help anyone create the space that they want and that meets their needs and their budget. Please schedule a conversation with me so we can talk through what you are looking for and how I can help.

What is the benefit of using a designer?

My training in landscape design, human-centered design, and customer experience has given me knowledge to help you find the garden that meets your imagination and your needs. I have experience in fundamental principles of design that can guide the size of projects, the selection of materials, and even selecting colors that you love and that complement each other and your existing space. I also bring expertise in plant selection to find the right plant to fit your space and your design with an eye towards also meeting your maintenance approach.

What is Exterior Staging and why would I need it?

Exterior staging is a process to use the outside of your house to increase the price and decrease the time it takes to sell your house. It can range from a little cleaning up of existing landscaping to new plantings and rental furnishings to help potential buyers see themselves in your house and garden. Estimates are that the “curb appeal” of a home can make up approximately 7% of the sales price and a big component of curb appeal is the landscaping. Help potential buyers find their “home” in your house and get excited to enjoy the garden!

Do you have expertise in native plants?

Yes! I have both experience as a gardener and as a designer with plants native to the Mid-Atlantic and to the central portions of the US. I also have expertise in determining what plants are native to whatever part of the country you live in along with how to determine what plants would thrive in your conditions and meet your needs as far as maintenance.
